Tennis court lighting at a leading sports complex in Crete

The Lyttos Sports Centre, located in Chersonissos (Crete, Greece), integrates a tennis court lighting solution within a project designed for intensive use and high-level performance. Part of the Lyttos Beach Hotel and set in a privileged seaside location, this complex brings together padel and tennis facilities engineered to deliver consistent playing conditions both day and night.

Our intervention focused on the lighting of three covered clay tennis courts, as well as an 800 m² indoor multi-sports hall designed for handball, basketball, badminton, volleyball and futsal. The solution is based on technical criteria including lighting uniformity, glare control and visual consistency. In facilities of this nature—where professional and recreational use coexist—lighting must ensure homogeneous performance across all playing surfaces, regardless of external conditions.

The objective is to maintain appropriate levels of visibility that do not interfere with play, enabling continuous use of the facilities. In the case of tennis court lighting, this means ensuring visual stability and consistent conditions that support uninterrupted gameplay.

The Lyttos Sports Centre project is led by Nikos Dimitriadis and brings together Led Projects and the Portuguese company Lusotendas Structures, a specialist in the development, manufacturing, sales and installation of sports court covers, as well as structural solutions for other sectors. This collaboration allows the project to be approached from a fully integrated perspective, where lighting and structure are conceived as part of a single technical solution.

Beyond its scale, the complex reflects a clear trend in sports infrastructure development: facilities designed for continuous use, where tennis court lighting plays a decisive role in both the quality of play and the overall functionality of the venue.

For us, being part of this project means continuing to advance in the application of lighting solutions tailored to real-use environments, ensuring stable and consistent visibility conditions on every court.
