Formula E at Jarama: padel and Led Projects lighting in a non-conventional setting
More than a decade after our beginnings in padel court lighting, we took part in a highly unusual installation: a padel court at the Circuito Madrid Jarama-RACE, as part of the 2026 Madrid ePrix of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
This activation, led by Hexagon World Series — the official team-based circuit regulated by the FIP — in collaboration with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), brought padel into an environment far removed from its usual setting. An initiative that connected the sport with new audiences within an event linked to the highest level of electric single-seater competition.
The court was specifically manufactured and installed by Pórtico Sport for this occasion, integrating into a space with high operational demands and significant public attendance. Led Projects was entrusted with the lighting of the installation, with the objective of ensuring appropriate visibility and lighting uniformity, in a context where technical adaptability is essential.
The event attracted more than 30,000 attendees, establishing itself as one of the most significant experiences in Spain’s recent calendar, with the presence of His Majesty King Felipe VI. Within this setting, the padel court became one of the most active focal points of the event, allowing hundreds of people to engage directly with the experience.
Our intervention focused on delivering a lighting solution capable of adapting to a non-conventional environment, while maintaining key technical standards such as glare control, visual stability and uniform light distribution across the entire playing surface.
For us, this project represents a different way of understanding lighting applied to sport: bringing padel into new environments without compromising playing conditions, integrating the technical solution into initiatives that expand the reach of the sport itself.
